Introduction to EU CSRD

The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (aka CSRD) came into effect in January 2023 and is the most far-reaching piece of legislation on ESG disclosure to date. It provides a framework for transparent sustainability reporting of the performance of companies. It is thought to affect ca. 50,000 companies in the EU and companies from outside the EU but operating in their markets. This new reporting framework requests for a double materiality assessment and the reported information will need to be subject to Limited Assurance by an external verification party, with the possibility to evolve to a Reasonable Assurance level from 2029 onwards.

In this seminar, we will describe the applicability criteria for American companies, the main requirements to be met, and the compliance calendars.

The EU Taxonomy of Sustainable Activities and Taxonomy Developments in LAC

Following the EU Green Deal, The EU Taxonomy is the glossary of sustainable economic activities. This glossary is critical for financing economic activities within or funded by EU-based financial instruments regulated by the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). Following this philosophy, several countries in America have developed similar initiatives, trying to promote investment in activities that promote sustainable activities and the mitigation of climate change.

In this seminar, we will review the eligibility process, alignment with the EU Taxonomy, and the main requirements of the Taxonomies developed in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.

ERM Webinar Series: The EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)

This Directive was issued in July 2023. It describes the obligations of EU-based companies (and some non-EU companies above certain threshold levels) to prevent, supervise, and minimize their impacts on sustainability in their supply chain, focusing on the observance of human rights. This Directive represents a step change in the responsibilities and disclosure requirements for European listed and big companies.

In this seminar, we will discuss the main requirements and the implications for the American companies affected by the Directive due to their operation in the EU and the expected risks and opportunities for the American companies in their supply chain.
