I work in the asset management team as a contaminated site management and remediation consultant. Most of my projects are with leading global oil and gas companies, helping with large-scale remediation and contaminated sites and environmental impact, risk and hydrological assessments in South Africa and Botswana.

I have learned quite a lot while at ERM. I work on different things almost every day, and there is always something exciting to look forward to. I am currently working on an interesting project to determine the best remediation solution for a particular site. Within that one location, we are conducting a number of hydrological studies using various methods just to find the perfect remediation solution for that location. Wrapped up in just one site, I am able to use everything I studied for all those years in school.

At my level in most companies, you get basic work, but you do not get rewarding work. Yet already at ERM I am given meaningful ways to contribute to the success of our company. There are countless opportunities to grow my career and develop my skills as a professional.

The best part of being at ERM is the people. I get to work with an amazing team of professionals who realize my potential and are willing to provide the necessary support and platforms to help me accelerate my career development. Through ERM’s virtual technical communities, the wealth of knowledge across the company is available and easily accessible. When I’m working on a new project, it is not really new because someone else within ERM’s worldwide network can provide me with technical advice from their prior experience. I am also part of the sustainability team here in Johannesburg, which supports and markets office-level awareness campaigns on sustainability issues.

During my job search, I wanted a company where I could grow a long and successful career. ERM is a place where I see myself staying for quite a long time. My work provides me the opportunity to take what I learned in school and apply it in real time, in real life and in a practical environment. That is why I am very passionate about the work we do here.
