Background
Investigate potential liabilities arising from operations and compliance with local regulations at a Kodak De Mexico SA de CV manufacturing facility in Mexico.
Our Approach
Kodak De México SA de CV is the Mexican subsidiary of US multinational, Kodak Eastman which provide photographic products and services to consumers and commercial customers around the globe. Kodak de México has been manufacturing photographic film at its extensive Guadalajara Plant since 1969. ERM was engaged to investigate potential liabilities arising from the plant’s operations.
ERM undertook a Phase I Environmental and Social Assessment (ESA) which identified several potential areas of concern and triggered follow-up soil and groundwater testing and analysis. A subsequent Phase II ESA was completed in early June 2007.
Test findings and the Phase II assessment did not detect any major environmental or social operational impacts, and Kodak’s solid reputation at its Guadalajara Plant was confirmed. In addition to the ESA, ERM also took the opportunity to analyze and enhance a number of operational practices and procedures.
Benefits and Value
ERM’s assessment confirmed that Kodak De México operates efficiently and in compliance with local regulations. The plant continues to enjoy low annual staff turnover and takes pride in its sound reputation.
