View all At ERM, we say that that ‘impact ignites us’. It’s more than a motto, but one of the beliefs that we all share, a reflection of our common motivation. Personally, I think of our organisation like a gearwheel within a global mechanism – when we move, our clients move in turn. And, because they are such influential companies, that action helps the world make progress towards vital targets, like Net Zero goals. Each of us may only be one cog in that system, but by working together we have the power to drive a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable world.
Then again, calling my colleagues ‘cogs’ doesn’t do them justice. ERM is a powerhouse of knowledge in the vast field of sustainability, so we have access to experts on any topic, all around the world. With a culture of open collaboration and continuous improvement, we’re learning from truly brilliant minds. My learning curve is steeper than I could’ve imagined.
As a member of the corporate sustainability and climate change team, I work on projects supporting companies in developing sustainability strategies, enhancing disclosures and addressing climate issues, among other work. Our clients come from a range of different sectors and can be at any stage of their sustainability journey – whether in the early, nascent phase or taking a leading role in transforming their industry. It’s rewarding to witness their progress and see the recognition they get from their stakeholders.
In just a couple of years with the company, I’ve developed a much broader perspective on the sector, moving on from a fragmented understanding to a more holistic view – developing a deeper understanding and appreciation of ESG policy and the triple bottom line of planet, people and profit.
I also see the difference we’re making here in Indonesia: in a developing country like ours, I think companies can be catalysts for positive change, shaping a better nation as well as a better world.
