View all My journey at ERM has been quite a ride! When I started here, more than 10 years ago, I was in a support role across the HR and Marketing departments. After a while, I focused more on the HR side, working in areas like personal development, talent acquisition, benefits, hiring and more. It was at that time, a couple of years ago, that my interest in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging really grew into a passion.
Some might think that it’s quite a niche area, but it’s really opened new horizons for me, allowing me to expand my knowledge and explore new areas. There is far more versatility and variety than I expected – we never have the same tasks daily. One day, I might be promoting our Employee Resource Groups. The next, developing a diversity and inclusion initiative. Later that same week, I’ll be organizing a global event. I’ve built a ton of skills and made connections with countless colleagues, both from my region and around the world. And that’s not just because I work in DEIB – I think most at ERM have that experience.
When I started out in my career, I wasn’t always confident and often felt imposter syndrome. But there’s a warm, diverse, inclusive and community-based culture here – compassion and high performance go side by side. That makes it an environment where you can grow professionally and personally. Today, I am more assured and ambitious, happy to ask questions and have my voice heard.
Everyone at ERM has their own chance to make an impact, to see our efforts become career-defining work. For me, it’s great to know that an initiative, message or project can change someone’s perspective, or even just make their day better. I love figuring out our team’s needs and turning that into benefits they can use to create a better work environment. Even back when I was working in a wider HR role, I love knowing that our team can enjoy a positive work environment – it’s one of the best rewards and motivates me every day.
