Ivy Chen, Principal Consultant with CSA Global, an ERM Group company, was included among the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining in 2020 by Women In Mining (WIM UK).

Ivy was one of 626 candidates nominated across 60 countries around the globe. The award is given to women who have gone “above and beyond contributions to the industry and been identified as role models for future generations.” With more than 30 years’ experience in mining and resource estimation, Ivy has become a recognized leader in the Australian mining communities where she has worked in operations and as a consulting geologist in open pit and underground mines.

As a firm supporter of equal opportunities and a champion of gender equality, Ivy has been a strong supporter of the advancement of women in the mining industry. She has served as a Women in Mining WA mentor since 2013 in the mining industry and mentored at-risk high school students. She is active in the in the Australian Institute of Company Directors; she was one of six WA participants in the AICD’s 2017-2018 Chair’s Mentoring program, aimed at increasing the presence of women on ASX 200 boards.

Her skilled leadership capabilities have placed her in numerous other leadership roles including as the first woman to chair the Perth Branch of AusIMM, a national mining advisor for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and more recently as a Board Member for Horizon Power (WA State Government-owned energy supplier).

Ivy was instrumental in helping to develop the AusIMM’s Professional Certificate in JORC Code Reporting which has been specifically designed for resource professionals responsible for effectively reporting in accordance with the JORC Code (e.g. Competent Persons or aspiring Competent Persons).

Ivy joins Louise Pearce, ERM's Global Mining and Metals Lead, in the honor of being named as a WIM Top 100 award winner.
