ERM, the world’s largest specialist sustainability consultancy, has published its annual Sustainability Report, which reviews the firm’s sustainability impact and performance and sets out priorities for its fiscal year 2025.
The new report showcases how, through ERM’s work with clients and partners and across its own operations and value chain, the firm is stepping up efforts to meet the increasingly urgent and intertwined global challenges of climate change, nature loss and growing social inequality.
During its fiscal year 2024, ERM’s work to increase its impact included the following highlights:
- Worked on 1,000+ projects contributing in excess of 200 gigawatts of installed renewable capacity and 10+ gigawatts of installed energy storage, therefore tripling ERM’s contribution to renewables development over the past three years.
- Treated 2.4+ billion liters of water.
- Worked on 81 sites within 21 of the 100 priority water-stressed basins globally to address water risks.
- Treated, destroyed or removed 12.8+ million kilograms of contaminants.
- Increased sales from low-carbon economy transition projects by 28% from the previous year.
- Supported 49 non-governmental organizations and social enterprises across 29 countries through the ERM Foundation.
ERM has also launched four updated strategies to address sustainability imperatives aligned to its four key operational programs (Decarbonization, Human Rights, Nature and Supply Chain) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Its Decarbonization Strategy is aligned to net-zero science-based targets approved under the SBTi (Science Based Targets Initiative) Net-Zero Standard, committing ERM to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.
Tom Reichert, Group CEO at ERM said: “For more than 50 years, ERM has helped clients to operationalize sustainability throughout their organizations. I’m proud of the achievements set out in this report, which demonstrate how our unique combination of strategic transformation and technical delivery capabilities is making a real impact across industries.
“Today, as the scale of the sustainability challenges facing the world increases, we are stepping up our actions to help deliver change at the pace required. Working with clients, partners and the broader sustainability ecosystem, we are committed to helping organizations build resilience and translate sustainability strategies into commercial success.”
