ERM’s investment in Gulf of Mexico region provides a sustainable approach to new development and in-country production.
ERM, a leading environmental, health, safety and sustainability (EHSS) consultancy, announces the opening of a regional operation in Villahermosa, in the Mexican state of Tabasco. The new location serves as a dedicated resource to help clients navigate local EHSS regulations for oil and gas (O&G) exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico.
Our clients' needs in Mexico are changing in response to the environmental, economic and social challenges that are happening as a result of the country’s energy reform and increasing industry demands,
ERM operations in Villahermosa will integrate the EHSS consultancy services at a regional scale with support of an in-house biological testing laboratory to efficiently process data and expedite results; an important asset to the constrained schedule of the industry. With this investment, ERM can also serve clients in the Caribbean basin, through our offices in Colombia, Guyana, Panama and Puerto Rico.
Since Mexico’s opening of the O&G market to private investment in 2014, ERM has been providing EHSS services to support sustainable development for many offshore projects. A recent increase in the onshore O&G business, including retail and distribution facilities, is providing new investment opportunities in the state of Tabasco, one of Mexico’s main oil-producing regions.
ERM chose to operate in Villahermosa based on our clients’ requests for our expertise to help increase value in their upstream and downstream operations where they do business,
added Sambartolome. For many years ERM has been working with local communities to establish a link between clients and community members around the issues of environmental sustainability and social impact.
Our reputation in stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution is well known within many local communities where we work on numerous large-scale projects.
While much of the work is currently focused on the O&G sector, ERM sees future opportunity to work with clients in the chemical, petro-chemical, infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture sectors doing business in Mexico.
