ERM, the world’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy has been named as a climate change consulting leader in new research from independent analyst firm Verdantix.

The Verdantix Green Quadrant: Climate Change Consulting 2023 report provides a benchmark of climate change consulting providers offering strategy, technical and implementation services. ERM features in the Leaders’ Quadrant as one of the firms demonstrating the most comprehensive climate change consulting capabilities. 

ERM was commended for its particular expertise in carbon data management and accounting, financed emissions management and climate risk quantification and scenario analysis. The Verdantix research highlighted ERM’s strong digital approach, powered by cutting-edge in-house digital tools and a robust partnership ecosystem, as well as its leading role in helping to draft critical climate change guidance such as the original Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework. 

The Verdantix report describes how the market for climate change consulting has grown significantly in recent years and continues to evolve rapidly. Organizations are increasingly investing in climate change initiatives in response to the threat climate change poses to business, the shifting regulatory landscape and growing pressure from stakeholders to demonstrate their impact on and resilience to climate change. According to Verdantix, in 2022 the net zero consulting market alone reached $3.5 billion and is forecast to hit $15.8 billion by 2028.
