Panel “Removing the barriers for permitting” - Alex Hampson

Alex is a Partner within the Renewables Industry at ERM. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the development, consenting and environmental assessment of major infrastructure projects with his focus area being offshore wind projects and their associated onshore grid connections. Alex has spent most of his career supporting renewable energy development and he is passionate about the UK and our world achieving renewable energy objectives.
 
Alex has worked on offshore wind and marine energy projects across England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and wider Europe. He has been able to support projects at all phases of development from site selection and lease application support, Environmental Impact Assessment and consenting to discharging conditions post consent in preparation for construction.

Previously, Alex has managed teams of 25+ Environmental Consultants from Project Managers to EIA Co-ordinators to Technical Specialists working on a range of marine energy projects in the UK and internationally. He has developed skills in managing diverse teams, leading teams through periods of transition, communicating objectives and strategy, networking and integrating teams with wider company divisions, supporting teams in business development, resource planning and performance management.

Deep Dive: LATAM – around the markets of LATAM – Christopher Hope

Christopher is a Principal Consultant at ERM and the renewable energy lead within their Political and Stakeholder Strategy unit, which supports companies and governments to navigate the political, social, and regulatory context for natural resource development. He previously worked as a British Diplomat, including as Head of Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development at the British Embassy in Santiago, Chile. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge (UK) and is a published academic on the subject of economic diversification.

Dana is managing Partner for ERM's Central European Business unit. She has been leading ERM's African BU over the past four years. Dana has over 17 years oil& gas, chemical, and sustainability and ESG consultancy experience, including regulatory, corporate compliance and strategy implementation. She has experience in multiple ESIA Studies according to European and Lenders requirements, Environmental DD Assessments, EHS Compliance assessment projects for clients also in renewable energy industry. Additionally, she was involved in Safety Culture Transformation Programs for clients, facilitating and conducting training sessions for different management levels, with the main focus on hazard identification, recognition & intervention, communication and leadership engagements. 

Nicola is a Partner with over 23 years of Environmental Consulting experience. Nicola is passionate about a sustainable transition to clean energy and has over 18 years experience of working on renewable energy projects globally. Nicola currently is the Managing Partner for renewable's in the EMEA region. 
 
Nicola's technical focus is in impact assessment and early project risk identification and management. She has over 23 years’ experience of leading Impact Assessment's and associated studies for clients in the UK, Africa and the Middle East. She is currently leading a number of geographical and technological 'firsts' for a range of clients. This includes a high profile project which is focused on the production of green hydrogen from offshore wind. 
 
Nicola has worked closely with many of the major lending institutions and has an in depth understanding of International standards and their application to on and offshore renewable energy projects. 

Charles is a Partner at ERM Germany; with 15 years’ experience supporting business development and go-to-market strategy initiatives in energy sector projects across Europe. He has 15 years’ energy sector experience (natural gas, infrastructure, Power-to-X, hydrogen) in North-Western and Eastern Europe 

Charles has a specific background in energy infrastructure (gas transportation & storage, regulatory affairs) and green hydrogen projects. 

Since joining ERM, Charles has been leading major renewable energy development and strategic projects in Germany and Central Europe. He has been particularly involved in offshore wind development projects, providing consenting and stakeholder engagement advisory to new market entries

As ERM’s Key Account Director for RWE, Sebastian is responsible for the overall relationship and client satisfaction between RWE and ERM globally. Sebastian is based at in our Frankfurt office in Germany and connects project teams internationally to transfer know how effectively between all RWE-ERM projects with the objective to increase overall project quality. He has more than 8 years of experience in Account and Project Management in the fields of sustainability with a progress on renewable, both onshore and offshore. Sebastian holds a M.Sc. in Business Administration / Finance 

Yannick is a consulting senior associate within ERM’s Capital Project Development (CPD) team. His project experiences include Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, Environmental and Social Due Diligence and project management. He has worked on assignments under German regulation and international standards (IFC, World Bank E&S, EBRD). His work focuses on Greenhouse Gas Assessments and Climate Change Risk Assessments for renewable energy projects in various geographies and he has worked on several onshore wind projects. 

Isabel has over 10 years of experience in Offshore Geosciences, focusing on geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental investigations, especially in Offshore Renewables and infrastructure. Isabel prepares and advises clients for Auction processes, develops Baseline and Environmental Impact Assessment reports, and leads Survey Roadmaps. She also worked on due diligence environmental permitting for OSW sites in the North and Baltic Seas. Isabel managed international projects, led ship surveys, and conducted 12 ship campaigns to collect and analyze geological and environmental data. She holds a PhD from Australia and has 25 peer-reviewed publications. 

As managing consultant within ERM’s Capital Project Development (CPD) team, Frank is responsible to develop and drive the onshore business in Central Europe forward. His experiences stretch in various fields with a strong focus on successful development of wind energy as project lead within the German national market. Through engagement in developing cooperation, he gained valuable experience in a particular international field and development of PV solar projects in greater East African context. Being continuously involved in strategic alignment, process improvement or development of strong teams, he brings a good sense for the greater picture. Leading larger and diverse teams is one of his strong sides. Frank has + 5 years’ experience in Project Management within Renewable Energy Sector.  

Karl is a consulting senior associate within ERM’s Capital Project Development (CPD) in Hamburg, Germany. He has a deep-rooted expertise in the wind energy sector. His expertise spans onshore and offshore business development, with a particular focus on guiding clients through permitting and environmental assessment processes. Karl's in-depth knowledge of the German market has been invaluable in facilitating several due diligence projects and offshore wind energy initiatives for ERM’s clients.
