ERM will be exhibiting and leading a sustainability program session this year at PDAC. We hope you can join us for one or more of the events listed below.
ERM will exhibit at Booth #326 throughout the conference. Visit us to discuss the elements we see as important to building sustainable mining operations through our ‘The Mine We All Want to See’ framework.
The global decarbonization and technological transformation processes are significantly increasing demand for critical minerals like copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, rare earths, et al. As net exporter of many of these increasingly critical metals and minerals, Latin America and the Caribbean face a unique opportunity to leverage its rich endowment of mineral resources to prove itself a reliable and strategic partner in the energy transition while diligently and smartly adding value locally. Increased responsible and sustainable production of these minerals would decrease supply risks and simultaneously provide development leverage for the region. In this context, the IDB is actively supporting governments and other stakeholders in securing the enabling conditions (institutional, social, and environmental) for responsible investments in mining.
Organizer: Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
Speaker: Alexandra Guaqueta, Global Leader, Social Performance & Human Rights, ERM
ERM’s "The Mine We All Want to See” framework envisions a sustainable metals ecosystem for mining companies, communities, customers, and investors through responsible mining. This lightning talks event will see key sub-topics within the sustainable mining framework explored by junior companies, community members, investors, and expert speakers in interactive mini sessions that will shape a sustainable future and create value for all stakeholders through safe, just, and responsible mining.
The sub-topics include:

Technical Program
Driven by the green energy transition, the emerging demand for critical metals such as lithium and rare earth elements requires innovative geological concepts, exploration strategies, and techniques. A combination of overview presentations and case studies will outline approaches required for the discovery and development of battery and magnet metal deposit.
Speaker: David Kaeter, Consultant, Geochemistry, CSA Global/ERM
ERM, in partnership with PDAC, will award a Sustainability Bursary of $3000 focused on innovation. This will provide support to the next generation of pioneers and leaders so that our industry can continue to generate sustainable value for all stakeholders in the years to come. The recipient for 2023 is Adrien Dimech, whose PhD is focusing on geophysical monitoring for the stability surveillance of mine tailings.
