Shami leads Actis’ approach to sustainability, ESG and impact, working closely with investment colleagues and portfolio company management to assess and manage ESG issues, helping to build world-class businesses which are leaders in sustainability, and which deliver measurable benefits to society and the planet. Shami is a member of the Actis Leadership Team and Inclusion and Diversity Committee. With over 20 years’ experience in responsible investment, primarily serving the private equity, banking and development finance sectors, Shami was drawn to Actis by its leadership in sustainable investing, the firm’s diverse culture and the opportunity to focus on global infrastructure markets.

Michael is a Managing Director in CPPIB’s Sustainable Investing team based in London. Prior to his role at CPPIB, Michael spent 17 years working in various technical sustainability ESG roles, most recently establishing the ESG discipline at DPI, an emerging markets private equity firm.

His prior ESG experience includes roles at the sustainability consultancy ERM and Bechtel Corporation. Michael holds an MSc with distinction in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and a BSc, Zoology Major from James Cook University, Australia.

Maryelle specializes in servicing investments funds and private equity firms. She has more than five years’ experience in responsible investment and ESG strategy developing and implementing ESG integration strategies for funds. More recently, she participated in the creation of Article 8 and Article 9 funds (SFDR) and contributed to defining the criteria and measurement process for newly created impact investing funds. Previously Maryelle worked in the field of asset management and has more than twenty years of experience on equities, hedge funds, relationship management and marketing gained in France, the UK and Hungary.

Alaric is a Partner in ERM's Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change services team focused on decarbonisation for private markets clients and their portfolio companies across EMEA. He has a nearly 30-year career in consulting, advising infrastructure funds and large private utility companies across the UK and Europe on identifying value opportunities related to climate change and low carbon energy. Alaric has led a range of due diligence processes for large Asset Managers seeking to acquire energy networks and wider infrastructure assets.  He has also worked extensively across emerging markets (Africa, India, Middle East), providing economic strategy advice to Ministers and Civil servants on the reform of, and private investment into, state-run power, water and transport companies.
