Alberto Vega is a System Ecologist with more than thirty-five years of significant experience in leading environmental and social assessments following the Equator Principles Framework and other International Best Practices such as IFC Performance Standards and IADB Safeguards for a variety of sectors including water resources, oil & gas, transportation infrastructure, and power including renewables (solar, wind, and hydropower). His experience includes some of the most iconic projects in the Americas such as the Panama Canal Expansion and the propose Grand Interoceanic Canal through Nicaragua.

Colombia has made accelerated progress incorporating renewable energies, taking advantage of its attractive regulatory framework and the wind and solar resources available in its territory, which has allowed it to become a regional benchmark in the field.
The challenges of adapting to the renewable capacity as a result of this will be discussed, as well as the new challenges the incoming government will have to face to continue accelerating its transition.
