CSRD: Value Creation Beyond Compliance

James Stacey is a Partner, Global Lead of Clients & Industries and member of the ERM Executive Committee.  James is a senior sustainability professional with 30+ years of private equity, banking and professional services experience, working in senior roles at the interface between sustainability, finance and investment; business strategy, performance and corporate disclosures.  James co-authored the G20 Financial Stability Board Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures Technical Guidance, 2017; the now globally referenced and increasingly mandated approach to determining implications of climate change to future financial performance.  He was previously a Principal Partner at Earth Capital, the clean tech and clean energy infrastructure asset manager. Earlier he was Global Head of Sustainable Business at Standard Chartered Bank.  Previously, James led KPMG's UK Sustainability consulting and global environment transaction services practices.  James has acted as a Fellow for the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), with whom he has delivered sustainability leadership development to corporate senior and C-Suite executives since 2008.

Alessandra joined DeA Capital Alternative Funds in 2017 as Head of Marketing, Institutional Sales, ESG. Alessandra gained her professional experience in the financial industry, mainly private equity and real estate, where she was in charge of business development and M&A. From September 2016 to March 2023, she served also as Head of Marketing Development in DeA Capital SpA. In addition to the fundraising activities for the whole platform, she supports the integration of responsible investment principles across the funds managed by the DeA, enabling the implementation and the adoption of best practices in Sustainability to improve the value for investors. Within the Group, she’s member of the ESG Committee of Sustainable Development Investment Fund and of the ESG Committee of Quaestio SGR. She’s also member of the ESG Steering Committee in AIFI and of the Master in Sustainable Finance (Politecnico di Milano School of Management) Advisory Board.

As Head of sustainability reporting, in Eni, Cristina Saporetti is responsible for consolidating all the sustainability information for the mandatory reporting documents and the voluntary sustainability reports. Before being appointed Head of the sustainability reporting team in the finance department, she was also Head of the sustainability planning and communication team in Eni. After completing her master’s degree in Economics and a post-graduate training in Economics Energy and Environment, Cristina started her career in the commercial department in Eni and then moved to the sustainability function where she matured over 10 years of experience.

Graduated cum laude in Bocconi University (Corporate Finance), with an experimental dissertation thesis of AI in financial series forecasting, he has more than 30 years experience in financial markets both on trading and sales on all relevant major asset classes. He has been working in many investment banks (Commerzbank, Credit Suisse, Barclays, Bank of America, Citibank) before joining IMI Corporate Investment Banking of Intesa Sanpaolo as Global Head of FX Sales in 2012. In 2019 he has become Head of Strategic Marketing and ESG Initiatives of IMI-CIB where he has been Coordinator of the Team ESG and Sustainability Manager for the Division. He has been appointed recently Head of Global Markets Strategy. He is Strategist of Assiom Forex, the leading Italian association of financial market dealers. He is a passionate runner and co-founder/drummer of the Bank’in-Band, the cover and donation pop-rock band of Intesa Sanpaolo Group.

Pedro is an accomplished sustainability professional with over 20 years of experience across diverse industries. Having worked in finance, energy, cement and chemicals sectors, he has consistently driven progress in critical areas such as climate change, human rights, and sustainable product development. Currently, he serves as the EU Sustainability Reporting Manager at Dow, one of the world's leading materials science companies, serving customers in high-growth markets such as packaging, infrastructure, mobility and consumer applications. In this role, Pedro develops and executes the sustainable finance strategy in Europe aligning with the Company’s global strategic goals. He is accountable for establishing an enterprise understanding of emerging disclosure standards and regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Notably, Pedro was also responsible for issuing Dow’s first Green Bond in 2024 ($1.2 billion) to execute the Company’s Decarbonize & Grow and Transform the Waste strategies.

Before joining EFRAG SR - Technical Leadership team as Sector Lead, Stefano has matured 26 years of experiences on environmental and sustainability practices. In the consultancy business he worked for ERM, Jacobs and Ramboll covering different roles from PM to Sector Lead to European Environmental Director. In the last years he was appointed as ESG Impact Assessment Unit Director (within the Sustainability & Policy Department) of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti which is one of the most important development banks in Europe. Stefano is a natural science doctor and has granted a master’s in environmental management at the Erasmus University (Rotterdam).
