Damian has in excess of 20 years toxicology experience, with more than 5 years spent study directing a wide variety of GLP and non-GLP in vitro and in vivo genetic toxicology assay endpoints. Damian gained his undergraduate degree in pharmacology from the University of Sunderland, with postgraduate degrees in toxicology (MSc) and biochemistry and intensive care medicine (DPhil).
Damian has worked at major contract research companies in the world, where he worked with various clients as a study director. He has extensive experience running and supervising genetic toxicology studies, advising clients on their ongoing projects and interpretation of guidelines. He has authored over 300 confidential reports and numerous conference posters and written about refinement, reduction and replacement of existing genotoxic animals models. His work has been cited by United Kingdom Committee on Mutagenicity (COM), EFSA, ECHA, OECD and ICH.
Damian has moved away from the study directing environment, working as the Technical Director of Toxicology at ERM, providing expert toxicological advice for the agrochemical, biocidal and REACh industries along with human risk assessment for pesticides (operator, worker, resident), biocides (various biocidal products including long lasting insecticidal nets, mosquito space spray formulations).
Damian was appointed to the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Applied Toxicology in 2018.
