Damian has in excess of 20 years toxicology experience, with more than 5 years spent study directing a wide variety of GLP and non-GLP in vitro and in vivo genetic toxicology assay endpoints. Damian gained his undergraduate degree in pharmacology from the University of Sunderland, with postgraduate degrees in toxicology (MSc) and biochemistry and intensive care medicine (DPhil).

Damian has worked at major contract research companies in the world, where he worked with various clients as a study director. He has extensive experience running and supervising genetic toxicology studies, advising clients on their ongoing projects and interpretation of guidelines. He has authored over 300 confidential reports and numerous conference posters and written about refinement, reduction and replacement of existing genotoxic animals models. His work has been cited by United Kingdom Committee on Mutagenicity (COM), EFSA, ECHA, OECD and ICH.

Damian has moved away from the study directing environment, working as the Technical Director of Toxicology at ERM, providing expert toxicological advice for the agrochemical, biocidal and REACh industries along with human risk assessment for pesticides (operator, worker, resident), biocides (various biocidal products including long lasting insecticidal nets, mosquito space spray formulations).

Damian was appointed to the editorial advisory board for the Journal of Applied Toxicology in 2018.

Alex joined the Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics team at the ICI Central Toxicology Laboratory (later known as Syngenta CTL) in the late 80’s. There, she was involved in all areas of regulatory and investigatory ADME and PK work for a range of crop protection chemicals, drugs and general chemicals including new active substances and existing products.  Since leaving Syngenta for a career in consultancy in 2010, Alex has gained extensive experience in human health risk assessment, with numerous conference posters and published work.

Alex leads the ERM QSAR Team providing in silico support across all regulatory areas.

Clare has worked in the area of environmental fate and behaviour for over 10 years, split between the UK regulatory authority and consultancy at ERM. Prior to that she spent over 10 years working in research and development for a major pharmaceutical company. Clare has a chemistry background with a BSc(Hons) from the University of Reading and a DPhil from the University of Sussex.

Whilst at the UK regulatory authority Clare gained significant experience evaluating a wide range of product types for EU approval and mutual recognition in the biocides area.  She led the fate contribution for a number of insecticidal active substances and disinfectant union authorisations as well as supporting a large number of repellent and rodenticide re-registrations.  Clare has led the environmental fate team at ERM for the last two years and has expanded her experience taking on projects for vector control as well as providing support to agrochemical projects and REACH.
