ERM at the 2023 AIChE Spring Meeting and 19th Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS)

Brian is a Health & Safety / Process Safety Management (PSM) consultant based in ERM’s Hartford, Connecticut office. Brian has over 7-years’ of experience and has completed regulatory Health and Safety and Process Safety Management audits in the following industrial environments: manufacturing, food processing, oil refineries, chemical processing, R&D labs and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, he has developed and implemented Process Safety and health & safety programs, training, and both qualitative / quantitative industrial hygiene assessments. Brian is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) as well as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), both through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Chris has more than 22 years' work experience in the areas of process safety management and risk management, compliance with an extensive process and environmental background. He has expertise in various PSM related areas such as process hazard analyses (PHAs) including HAZOPs, HAZIDs and what-ifs, management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), PSM audits, process safety information (PSI) and process safety requirements for the offshore industry. In addition, Chris also is experienced on the quality management side in terms of FMEAs for the medical and automotive industries; occupational safety in terms of job safety analysis (JSA) and environmental engineering in terms of waste water designs, environmental statements, impact assessment and ENVIDs. One of Chris’s strengths is his capability to work and interact with a wide variety of disciplines and functions—from operator to CEO. He currently is providing risk management expertise in ERM Americas Risk Practice projects.

Ivette is a Chemical Engineer with a master’s degree on environmental Science and Technology from IHE, Delft, The Netherlands. Ms. Catalán has twenty-five years’ experience as environmental, health and safety consultant. She is responsible of the Compliance, Management Systems, Health and Safety and Training Services. She has developed the strategies for implementation of management systems for the oil and gas sector in Mexico. Ms. Catalan has experience on both public and private industry and in the oil and gas, mining, chemical and petrochemical, glass and derivatives, metal-mechanics and pharmaceutical industries.

Kris is a Senior Consultant on ERM’s Geospatial and Climate Team, with a focus on assessing financial impacts from climate-related physical risks. Based out of Irvine, California, he brings to the team more than 10 years of experience in emerging markets finance and economics. Kris has led multiple TCFD-aligned physical risk assessments at ERM, including bespoke financial quantifications, for sectors such as oil & gas, chemical manufacturing, and agriculture. He has developed tools that are utilized in physical risk scenario analyses including linear and predictive regression models, Monte Carlo simulations, and sector specific customized hazard damage curves. Kris received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and a Master’s degree in economics from Columbia University.

Larry has over 20 years of experience in environmental, health and safety management with a focus in development and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Planning (RMP) programs. Larry has diverse experience in the chemical, consumer goods, specialty metals, automotive, oil & gas, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical and food/beverage industries. He is an expert with interpretation and compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations (including 29 CFR 1910.119 and 40 CFR 68); implementing policies and procedures to meet all federal, state and local requirements. Larry has worked in industry where his experience includes start-up and operation of manufacturing facilities, including training, program development, compliance and reporting of health, safety and environmental matters. During his tenure with ERM Larry has completed over 175 EHS and 140 PSM/RMP compliance audits. Larry is certified in Process Hazard Analysis facilitation and is a Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA).

Monica is a senior consultant specialized in process risk assessment at ERM, based in Mexico City. She has a background in chemical engineering with a master's degree in process safety and environmental engineering (PSEE) from the University of Magdeburg, Germany.  Monica is certified as a Functional Safety Engineer in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) by TÜV Rheinland. She has experience as an environmental and safety auditor, having performed audits for regulatory compliance as well as Process Safety Management (PSM). She has worked in several projects for the oil and gas sector, as well as for the chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and manufacturing sectors.

Steve has over 30 years of experience in environmental, health and safety consulting with a focus in development and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Planning (RMP) programs. Steve has designed, implemented and/or audited PSM/RMP programs for a variety of industrial clients in various sectors including mid-stream and down-stream oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, automotive, food and beverage, power, metals, mining, semiconductor and general manufacturing. In addition to a strong focus on OSHA’s PSM Standard and EPA’s RMP Rule, He has extensive work globally with Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS) programs for clients in the following countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Steve has conducted over 300 EHS or PSM/RMP compliance audits during his tenure at ERM. He has a BSME from Clemson University and is a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) and Certified Process safety Auditor (CPSA).

Tim is a Principal Consultant for Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change based out of ERM’s Milwaukee, Wisconsin Office where he provides experience in operations, worldwide supply chain, procurement, international sourcing, strategic planning, business integration, sustainability strategy and ESG program development. While at ERM, Tim has focused on a number of projects centered on improving supply chain strategy, recognizing risks, and building a resilient and responsive supply chain. Focus areas also include building credible scope 3 emissions tracking and reduction plans and implementing responsible souring strategies. Tim also specializes in identifying and reducing the plastic packaging footprint strategies with both consumer products and medical based clients. Tim received his bachelor’s degree in Business and Communications from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before receiving his executive MBA (EMBA) from Ohio University and studying Business Sustainability Management at the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership.
