Industrial hubs like Antwerp, Rotterdam, Dunkirk and Hamburg have emerged as some of the most advanced in EMEA in regards to their transition towards a low carbon economy. While exploring the best options and opportunities this brings, different stakeholders are looking for partnerships to combine experience, reduce business risks and remain at the forefront when larger scale opportunities will emerge.

Our panel of speakers will share their views on the challenges related to industrial decarbonization and how this can be achieved using integrated solutions such as renewable energy sources, carbon capture and new process technologies. What are the benefits of creating cross-sector partnerships? What is needed from governments, infrastructure providers, investors and other stakeholders to accelerate the industrial transition to a low carbon economy?

Gerrit Arnd Riemer

Head of Hydrogen Economy & Governmental Affairs Germany – thyssenkrupp Steel Europe

Gerrit Arnd Riemer joined thyssenkrupp in 2012 and currently holds the position of Head of Governmental Affairs Germany and Head of Hydrogen Economics. Before joining thyssenkrupp, Gerrit held senior roles in energy policy and strategy at E.ON in Germany. Earlier in his career he worked for several years in the Association of the German Petrol Industry and in the German Association of Energy and Water Industries. Gerrit has a degree in Economics.

Sven Goethals

Business Development Director Energy, Tractebel

Graduated as Master in Engineering in 1991 and Post-graduated in Business Economics in 1992, Sven started his professional career in 1994 in Tractebel. Over a period of 20 years he was project and product manager for energy different kind projects from inception up to commercial operation in several departments of Tractebel. After 4 years as Sales and Business Development manager for Energy in the Belgium teams, he manages since 3 years the Business Development and Sales activities for Energy for the whole Tractebel group. In this position he specially focusses on hydrogen and is responsible for the strategy of Tractebel for being a frontrunner in developing hydrogen ecosystems energizing a carbon neutral future.
