ERM's Health and Safety team, working closely with our Digital Services experts, developed a simple-to-use app that provides the information we need to help ensure our employees' safety.
The Return to Workplace (RTW) App is an important part of ERM’s COVID-19 management approach and has proved critical in helping us track where our employees are and to contact anyone if situations change in a location. Developed at the start of the pandemic by our integrated team of H&S specialists and digital experts in Asia Pacific who were the first to be impacted by COVID-19 at the start of 2020, the app has been enhanced as we adapted to changing conditions across the world. For example, we have added a feature to scan QR codes as people enter and leave ERM offices, which will become more important as the number of people attending offices increases as local conditions permit.
Use of the app by every employee on an ongoing basis is vital in managing the number of people in an ERM office during the pandemic. With every employee using this app, our COVID co-ordinators, who have responsibility for local offices, can:
Know how many people intend on being in the office on which day of the week.
Manage the number of employees who can be in the office on any given day. This will help us to ensure the correct social distancing and other necessary measures are in place based on the number of people present.
Know who was in the office on a given day should a confirmed or potential case of COVID-19 be reported by a colleague and contact tracing becomes necessary. This will enable us to know who needs to be informed of potential exposure and of the steps that need to be taken.
Helps the company meet our duty of care of knowing where are employees are working.
The RTW App enables each employee to document where they plan to be working during the upcoming 30 day period. This enables colleagues to see where team members will be working at home, in the field or in the office for the upcoming month so they can plan accordingly. As an additional benefit, the information on employee location helps us calculate greenhouse gas emissions from home working.
We knew we had to work fast, so utilizing our internal resources and expertise, we put together our RTW web app to ensure we could continue to effective manage our employees’ health and safety.”
