Impact through collaboration

Lead. Transform. Succeed. ERM supports WBCSD

ERM is a founding member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a global, CEO-led organization of over 200 leading businesses working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.

As WBCSD celebrates its 25th year, we have been actively involved in several WBCSD initiatives. Here are some highlights:

  • In January 2020, ERM CEO Keryn James was invited to undertake a two-year term as an Executive Committee member of the WBCSD, a reflection of ERM’s long standing contribution to the WBCSD and our ongoing commitment to the important work of the WBCSD. She is further involved as Co-Chair of the Climate and Energy Program Board, which is developing next steps in energy and climate change strategy for the next three years and is a member of the Steering Committee for the WBCSD COVID-19 Response.
  • ERM was involved with the WBCSD in the development of the CEO Guide for Human Rights, and Keryn James has signed on as a supportive CEO.
  • ERM helped develop several SDG Sector Roadmaps in recent years. During FY20, we worked with a number of sectors including oil and gas, forestry, tires and zinc as well as the cement industry in India.
  • The WBCSD is launching a project to develop the GHG Protocol Guidance on carbon removals and land use. More than 250 experts from many different sectors (academia, consulting companies and the industry) have applied, and ERM Technical Director Braulio Pikman was selected to be a participant of the Technical Working Group that will develop the Guidelines to be published in 2021. The work will be coordinated by WRI based in Washington DC and will involve technical experts from across the globe. ERM will be joining the Technical Group on Land Use.
  • Principal Consultant Stefano Pennese completed a secondment at WBCSD to develop the Global Information Platform as part of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste.
  • Senior Consultant Lindee Wong completed a secondment into the New Energy Solutions project at WBCSD and has continued working to support this team.
  • ERM is a member of the Vision 2050 refresh project, with ERM's Global Sustainability Director Linden Edgell seconded into the core team on a part-time basis.  The Refresh project is bringing the original 2010 vision up to date and restating the baseline for business action and leadership for the decade to come.
