W Ian Hamilton is a Partner at ERM with 36 years’ experience in the delivery of technical consultancy services. Ian is a Chartered Human Factors Specialist with the UK Chartered Institute of Human Factors and Ergonomics and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
As a Psychologist specialising in the management of human and organisational performance, Ian has worked in system development, and operational and safety assurance in a wide range of industries. This experience includes military systems, air transportation, rail transport, highways, construction power generation and distribution, chemical processing, manufacturing, upstream and downstream oil and gas, mining, healthcare, and shipping. This versatility derives from his skill in the analysis of human tasks and error in industrial processes.
His work at ERM includes advising on the role of human performance management in accomplishing ESG goals for sustainability. He has worked with PE firms on the aspects of investment management. Ian has facilitated workshops with many clients for the purposes of operations planning and assurance. He has delivered training and supported competence development, as well as performing leadership coaching to front-line staff as well as senior managers and executives. Ian is a skilled communicator and facilitator, who is able to manage teams of even the most assertive individuals.
